I do not support the proposal to reduce all current 30 mph zones to 20 mph. I do not believe this will benefit people living in reduced speed zones. Where they have been introduced across England and Wales I understand the levels of pollution have increased to the detriment of people's health. I also believe that in many cities and towns where reduced speed limits were introduced plans are being considered to remove them. Further I do not believe it will result in drivers complying with set speed limits any more than the current limits do. It might be better to limit these proposals to only very small communities/villages or those areas (with a current 30ph limit) where the roads structure is not compatible with speeds in excess of 20 mph.
