Alice Littler Play Park Renewal

Moray Council has allocated a budget of £100,000 to renew the play equipment and to improve the safety surfacing in the Alice Littler play park. The funding made available from the Scottish Governments Play Renewal Fund will provide £90,000 for new equipment and £10,000 for landscaping and ground works to remove the existing equipment foundations.

Owing to a recent condition survey and its low overall condition score, this park was identified and prioritised as one of four play parks in Moray for renewal in 2025-2026.

The equipment is now at end of life and will be largely removed, however, there is potential for the net climber to be retained following an in-depth condition inspection. The slide will be retained, although we may be required to landscape the access to it.

The Aberlour Playpark Group and other community representatives are working with Moray Council throughout this process. The Aberlour Playpark Group have been carrying out community consultations and additional fundraising to support the renewal of the play park.

This renewal will be completed using a participatory budgeting approach meaning that the community of Aberlour will have the opportunity to influence the project scope of service (the description of what style of play we would like designers to provide) and to vote for their preferred design.

The chosen play park design will be installed by June 2027.

While the project has still to be formally awarded and some aspects of the design shown in the image may still be subject to slight change we are pleased to announce that a design for the new Alice Littler Play Park has been received. Once awarded we will be able to update you all with more details, including the project timeline.

"🎉 We Did It! New Aberlour Playpark Design Revealed! 🎉

We honestly can’t believe how far we’ve come in just over a year. So many conversations, meetings, ideas, and dreams… and now we finally get to share the design for our new playpark!

When we went out to tender, we received just one bid - but we are genuinely delighted to say that this proposal covers the full scope of what came back from our community consultation and we couldn’t be happier with the design that’s been put forward.

The image you can see shows the full £250k concept, however we will be proceeding with the £220k option, which means a few items in the visuals won’t be included in the final build. But what is going ahead reflects exactly what our community told us they wanted and we are absolutely thrilled with the result.

Thank you to everyone who has supported us on this journey. Reaching this milestone in just over a year is incredible, and there’s so much more to come! 💛🌟" - Aberlour Playpark Group
