What is anti-social behaviour?
Anti‑social behaviour (ASB) refers to actions that cause harassment, alarm, or distress to individuals, businesses, or the wider community. It includes behaviour that is disruptive, intimidating, or harmful to people’s sense of safety and wellbeing.
Examples of anti-social behaviour
Verbal abuse or threatening behaviour toward staff or members of the public
Shoplifting or attempts to steal from a business
Loitering, intimidating groups, or individuals causing nuisance around business premises
Harassment, including unwanted behaviour toward staff, including racial, sexual harassment and relating to any other protected characteristic
Vandalism criminal damage or graffiti on buildings or property
Aggressive begging or persistent demands that make people feel unsafe
Public drunkenness, drug use, or disorderly behaviour near a business
Noise disturbances that impact staff or customers
Throwing objects or causing damage inside or outside a business
