Cooper Park Pond and Outdoor Gym

The pond is a central and important part of Cooper Park. .Various species of wildlife including nesting swans that revisit every year inhabit the I remember the boating that use to take part but appreciate that’s probably no longer feasible
The issue with algae is a yearly problem ( I suspect due to the fact it is not a fresh/free flowing pond) however more can be done to tackle this. There are plants ( reeds/water lilies etc) that enable a self cleaning system and provide a protective environment for the wild life. Volunteers came forward to assist in this. Paid bird feeders. ( I know the anti-gull brigade will overreact on that one) and maybe there’s an issue with leaving coinage in over night. Maybe a token could be purchased from the library. (Another great community focal point). Walking through the park ( in all weathers) and seeing the pond as a focal point, people gathering for their lunch, feeding the birds etc is wonderful in all weathers. ( yes even in the dreichy rain!)
An Outdoor gym. I recently visited the park around Loch Soy, and great fun was had by all ages on the outdoor gym.
I consider myself very lucky to have such a great space on my doorstep and hope it develops in splendor.
