Thank you to everyone who gave feedback on our draft Rent Management Policy.
What we asked
We asked tenants to review the updated policy, which explains how we manage rent, prevent arrears and support tenants.
What you said
294 responses were received.
- 88% supported the draft policy.
- 88% found it easy to read and understand.
- 6% suggested rewording; 8% thought something was missing; 3% suggested removing something.
- Some tenants asked for extra support with rent or tenancy issues and we’ve contacted them directly.
What we did
- Most suggestions were already covered in the draft policy, so no major changes were needed.
- We will use your feedback to improve our day-to-day procedures and make information clearer.
What’s new in the policy
- Stronger focus on prevention and early intervention
- Inclusion of Scottish Social Housing Charter standards
- Updated legal and pre-action requirements for eviction action
- Enhanced equality and hardship support through the Tenancy Sustainment Fund
- Clearer performance monitoring and accountability
Next steps
The final revised Rent Management Policy was approved for implementation by elected members at a meeting of the Housing and Community Safety Committee on 18 November 2025.You can read the report presented to Committee here.
The revised policy will start on 1 April 2026. We'll:
- Keep tenants informed of any changes
- Update our tenant information and webpages
- Carry out any staff training and system changes required
