New Forres Academy Mobilisation Works (site set-up)

Subject to contract agreement, Moray Council will be starting early mobilisation works (site set-up) to prepare for construction of the new Forres Academy. These preparatory works are designed to safely establish the construction site ahead of the main building programme.

Site setting works are expected to begin from the week commencing 01 June 2026. Initial activity will mainly take place around Applegrove Primary School boundary and Roysvale Park.

The mobilisation period is expected to run from 01 June 2026 to 22 June 2026.

A public drop-in session is planned for Tuesday 26 May, from 3pm to 8pm at Forres Town Hall, giving residents the opportunity to learn more about the planned activity.

Post box removal (Green area on site drawing)

Temporary Heras fencing will be installed around the green-marked area, outside the Applegrove primary school boundary to allow for the safe removal of the existing hedge and post box in preparation of new surface water drainage works.
Pedestrian access path in this area will remain open and accessible at all times.

Orchard Road - temporary fenced area and new access point (Purple area on site drawing)

A small area near Orchard Road (shown as ‘purple’ on the site drawing) will be fenced off.
This allows the existing stone wall to be taken down safely and an access point created into the future school site, which will later become the vehicle access for the new school.

School boundary - secure separation from construction works (Blue line along the eastern boundary between Applegrove Primary School and the proposed new school site on the site drawing)

Temporary Heras fencing will be installed between Applegrove primary school and the construction site to create a secure separation between the school environment and the works area.
This fencing will then be replaced with water ballast hoarding during the school summer holiday period.
This works have been scheduled over the weekend to minimise disruption to school operations.

Roysvale Park Contractor compound Entrance (Yellow area on site drawing)

A temporary compound entrance will be formed from Sanquhar Road to provide access to contractor parking and accommodate temporary site offices and welfare facilities, where access will be managed by an on-site traffic marshal.

Playing field boundary - west and south edges (Thick Red line on site drawing)

Temporary fencing will be installed along the west and south boundaries of the Applegrove Primary School playing field.
Heras fencing will be fixed to the existing post and wire fence on the non-school side of the current boundary fence.
These works are being carried out in preparation for hoarding installation and pedestrian footpath will remain open and accessible at all times.

Roysvale Park Contractor compound – Phase 1(Green line on site drawing)

The first phase of the contractor compound will be established within the area of Roysvale Park shown in Green on the site drawing.
Temporary Heras fencing around this area will initially be installed in preparation for site hoarding and commence site compound strip, forming hard standing for initial site accommodation set up.

Installation of Permanent Hoarding

Temporary Heras fencing installed along the playing field boundary and school boundary areas will later be replaced with solid hoarding to provide additional security and visual screening around the construction site.

Where possible, hoarding installation works will take place during the school holiday period to minimise disruption.

What to Expect

During these mobilisation works, local residents, parents, pupils and staff may notice:

increased contractor activity around the school boundary between 8am and 5pm, Monday to Friday.
construction vehicles entering and leaving the site
temporary fencing and hoarding installations

A printed copy, including full details and a drawing of the planned mobilisation works, is available for viewing at Forres Community Centre from Friday 22 May.

The safety of pupils, staff, residents and the wider community remain the priority throughout these works. Construction areas will be securely fenced at all times, with clear separation maintained between school operations and site activities.
