FAQs
When will the park be installed?
The current timeline for the play park installation to be completed is before the 31st of March 2027. Once a successful supplier has been identified we will be able to confirm this date.
Why Commerce Street Play Area?
Although our Play Equipment meets BSEN1176 and1177 the lifespan of play area equipment and surfacing will vary depending upon many factors including: types of materials the equipment is constructed with, levels of use, vandalism, ground conditions and geographical location
Using an overall condition score from our independently assessed annual play park inspections, we then identify play parks for renewal based on their overall condition score. We prioritise play parks for with the lowest overall condition score for renewal. A programme has been in place to deliver these renewals over financial years 2021/22 - 2025/26, alongside other miscellaneous improvements.
The Survey asked us about the Station Site Play Park, what is happening there?
Separate to the Commerce Street Play Renewal, the community have previously said that they want improved facilities at Station Park.
The funding available for Commerce Street cannot fund a renewal project at Station Site, so we’d need to find the money through community fundraising and grants.
The survey issued in January 2025 was an opportunity for the Lossiemouth Community Council and the Lossiemouth Community Development Trust with the support of the Open Space Department of the Moray Council to consider both play areas with the Beach Bar Park being Phase 1 and, hopefully, Station Park as Phase 2 once funding has been secured.
