FAQs
Why are the Community having to update this play park
Our programme of play park renewals funded by the Scottish Government Play Renewal Fund has unfortunately, come to an end with the close of this funding stream.
This means that Moray Council must now utilise our limited capital funds to replace individual items at end of life or economically unviable to repair one at a time on a like for like basis.
The individual item identified for renewal are based on an independent condition score. Every year we have an independent annual inspection of all the 121 play parks we manage / maintain by a certified inspector and each item of equipment in the play park is given an overall safety condition score. The items with the lowest score are the ones which are renewed first.
We are working with local steering groups utilising a participatory budgeting approach to renew the zipline in the park and to increase the junior play facilities as part of project 1. There will be a secondary project, as funds allow, to renew the area of the play park designated for older children.
We can support communities wishing to accelerate play park renewals by working with groups to support with fundraising and through the procurement process, we are delighted to be working with the Fochabers Village Association Play Park Project Group to help drive this Community project forward.
When will the park be installed?
The current timeline for the play park installation to be completed is before the 31st of March 2027. Once a successful supplier has been identified we will be able to confirm this date.
How can I Help?
We are still looking for support to provide seating options in the park and to fund 'Project 2'. Please contact the Fochabers Village Association Play Park Project Group directly via their social media Facebook page to see how you can help with this.
